Interactivity: Computer human interaction

The core idea I have been looking at for my dissertation is how people interact with computers and what interface device they use weather it be a simple mouse or a more complicated touchscreen.

Personal practice

I think how people interact with a computer is an interesting subject area, as a flash programmer, as interactivity is often a big part of what we create, so it is important to know the main aspects of computer human interaction. Also I think it would be really useful to look at new technologies which might help me to produce future projects. Maybe look at existing work to get an idea of how they see human/ computer interaction?

Technology/ software

I want to look into the history of the mouse and how and why it became the ‘single most accepted interface technology’ to use with computers. I would like to explore this idea and weather if the mouse didn’t come as a package with your computer, would people consider the other interface devices that are out there?

Next it would be good to explore the mouse’s rivals/alternatives as well as what new things are being created now, such as the Microsoft surface and how these technologies may change the way we use a computer, for the better or worse?

Interactivity

I want to look into, if what we use to interact with the computer changes the experience you have? To get an idea how we can change the users experience for the better and give me an idea as a flash programmer what I should be creating.

In addition I want to look into how it changes the way we design especially with things like touch screen as it removes the mouse and keyboard as the primary input device.
